We have great news: EGOCMS is now open source and available under the GPLv3 licence! The current source code of EGOCMS V25.0.2.1 is available on GitLab and can be used, modified and further developed by the community.

Why open source?

By switching to GPLv3, we want to drive the further development of EGOCMS together with the community. This means

  • Full transparency about the code and its further development
  • Flexibility to adapt EGOCMS to individual needs
  • Collaborative improvement through contributions and feedback from the open source community

Quick start: How to test EGOCMS Open Source

Installation and the first start are very simple:

  1. Clone the repository and change to the directory
  2. Start initialisation: bash init.sh
  3. The script automatically sets up a complete Ubuntu environment with all the necessary server components. Whether Linux, Mac or Windows, it should work without any problems with a current Docker version.

What is included?

  • All important modules are included - only older and no longer relevant modules have been removed.
  • The Kubernetes Helm environment is currently still missing, but there is a completely revised Docker Compose environment that facilitates local operation.

Become part of the EGOCMS community!

We look forward to your feedback and contributions! Take the opportunity to further develop EGOCMS and enrich it with new ideas. Is everything working smoothly? Do you have any suggestions for improvement? Then write to us at or contribute directly to the GitLab repository.

Feel free to share this news with interested parties, universities and organisations - together we can make EGOCMS even better!

Have fun trying out and developing!
